Losing a pet cat is much like losing any other member of the family and knowing how to react and what to do to ease your grief can feel like a challenge.
At Cats Protection, our designated grief support service can help you in dealing with the loss of your cat. Whether you’re grieving the loss of a pet after euthanasia, your cat has gone missing or you’ve had to separate for other circumstances, a call to the Paws to Listen service may make all the difference.
Our dedicated volunteer listeners are on hand for when you need support. While we’re unable to offer counselling, we can offer a sympathetic ear at a difficult time.
As with any loss you might experience, there is no ‘right’ way to feel after the loss of your cat. Your emotions and feelings are perfectly normal and are personal to you. For example:
If you’re experiencing pet-related grief you can call our free and confidential phone line on 0800 024 94 94 to talk to one of our trained volunteer listeners.
Alternatively you can contact us via our support form

To promote this service we have produced a range of resources, which can be ordered free of charge and displayed around your practice. We have wallet cards, leaflets for your reception and public areas. A4 posters are now available to download below.
