Cat adoption in the Chilterns

Could you provide a loving new home for a cat in the Chilterns area? During the process of adopting a cat from us, we’ll consider everything from your potential pet’s personality and how this fits with your lifestyle, to your home environment – creating the perfect match for both cat and owner and the start of a wonderful feline friendship.

PLEASE READ THIS INFORMATION BEFORE VIEWING THE CATS AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION AT THE BOTTOM OF THIS PAGE.

Are you looking for a cat or a kitten?
Yes? Then we would love to hear from you! We always have plenty of cats looking for caring homes!
So, how does it work........

  • First, just call the number below - leave a message with your details, where you live, and what you're looking for, and someone will get back to you as soon as possible. (Please be patient when waiting for your call/email back - all our volunteers are part-time and unpaid, so phones can't be manned at all times.)
  • The volunteer from the branch who contacts you will talk to you about what type of cat you are looking for and what we have, as well as discussing the sort of cat that will suit your household and location.
  • Reserve your cat. If you’re found to be a match for your chosen cat, you’ll be contacted via phone or email. You may be asked for proof of your address and the consent of your landlord (if you live in a rented property).
  • Adopt. Once you have reserved your cat, you’ll be sent paperwork to sign and you’ll make a further telephone appointment with our team. In this call, you’ll have a chance to discuss everything you need to know about your cat. You’ll then pay an adoption fee of £90 for cats over 6 months and £110 for kittens under 6 months, ideally by bank transfer.

  • Bringing your cat home. Once this is finalised, you can meet your cat and bring them home.

  • Be supported. To support you while your new cat settles in, we will keep in contact with follow-up calls, texts or emails. These are usually around three, seven and twenty-one days after you have adopted your cat or kitten but we are flexible and are happy to change how often and when we contact you, according to your wishes. Please remember that we are always available if you need any help or advice now or in the future. You can also find help and advice on the Cats Protection website at www.cats.org.uk/advice.

Cats Protection charge an adoption fee per cat.

All cats from the Chiltern Branch have been:

  • Vet checked on admission
  • Vaccinated
  • De-flead and wormed
  • Neutered (if old enough)
  • Microchipped

This costs on average £180 per cat, excluding any other costs for food and keep, but our adoption fee is only £90 for cats and £110 for kittens.

Cats available for adoption from Cats Protection Chiltern Branch are featured below. To express your interest in a particular cat, please enquire via their listing. If you have any general enquiries about your suitability, or the adoption process, please call us on: 0345 260 2396 or email enquiries@chiltern.cats.org.uk
