Make a difference to cats by volunteering with our Cats Protection neutering team.

Would you like to be part of our committed neutering team?

As part of our neutering team, you will help spread positive neutering messages; promote our neutering schemes making it easier for owners on low incomes to get their cats neutered; and respond to enquiries from members of the public, all with the aim of making the world a better place for our cats.

As a neutering volunteer you’ll develop new skills, make new friends, and help improve the lives of cats and kittens in your local community.

Neutering volunteer roles at Cats Protection

We have two volunteer roles in our neutering team, so you can pick whichever appeals to you most!

  • Neutering team lead volunteer – you’ll be leading, organising and supporting your team of volunteers in all aspects of their roles, making sure our volunteers are happy, confident and have the resources to carry out their roles
  • Neutering volunteer – you’ll be helping raise awareness of the benefits of neutering, promoting our neutering schemes, responding to enquiries from members of the public and helping to spread messages around cat welfare in a variety of settings

Where would I be based?

Our neutering team leader and neutering volunteer roles are home based; however, both roles involve local travel to deliver neutering vouchers/leaflets and promote the benefits of our neutering scheme.

“Volunteering is exceptionally rewarding. During your time as a volunteer, everything you do, whether small or big contributes to the welfare of cats in need” – Rakib, Neutering volunteer

How our neutering programme is making a difference

  • In 2022, we neutered 132,000 cats and kittens, including around 12,000 feral cats, making us the single largest cat neutering group in the world
  • In 2021, we also spent £6 million helping people to neuter their pet cats and prevent the multiplication of feral colonies
“Being a neutering volunteer is all about community engagement and helping owned and street cats . The support we offer builds trust and improves the welfare of so many cats. Educating people has a big impact and is my passion and I love making a difference” – Sue, Neutering volunteer
