Make a difference to cats by volunteering with our Cats Protection Education team.

Would you like to be part of our passionate Education team?

With the support of Community Education Officers, our education volunteers promote and deliver carefully designed, interactive talks, share cat welfare messages and help everyone to better understand cats.

As an education volunteer you’ll develop new skills, make new friends, and help improve the lives of cats and kittens across the UK.

Education volunteer roles at Cats Protection

We have several volunteer roles in our Education team:

  • Education speaker – you’ll be delivering carefully designed talks and helping to spread messages around cat welfare in a variety of settings.
  • Virtual education speaker – you’ll be delivering carefully designed talks and helping to spread messages around cat welfare through virtual settings.
  • Education team leader – you’ll be leading, organising, and supporting your local volunteer team, so that they are confident and have the resources to carry out their roles.

Where would I be based?

Our education team leader and virtual speaker roles are home based. The education speaker role involves reasonable amounts of travel to deliver face-to-face sessions.

“Volunteering and being part of the Education team is such a lovely thing – from the support of other volunteers around you and teachers who find they learn things during the talk, to the five-year-old who runs up to you when the session is finished and tells you how much they’ve enjoyed it. “Best day ever!”, one child said. And each one really is!” – Louise, Education Speaker

In 2022, our education projects saw:

  • Over 3,500 Education pack downloads
  • 933 talks given to 25,695 children and adults
“It’s so rewarding to feel you are giving something back and it’s great to see children so enthusiastic about animals and keen to share their experiences. You get the feeling you are doing something really worthwhile and if it helps improve life for one cat, now or sometime in the future, then you’ve achieved something wonderful.” – Louise, Education Speaker
